Self Employed / Family Business
My Grandpa was an amateur handyman after he retired with a full workshop in his garage. When I was growing up, I used to love watching him and helping home when he worked on various projects around the house and in the yard. Eventually he even began to teach me how to fix things, to build things, and to use tools and equipment. I found that I loved that kind of work and had an aptitude for working with my hands.
Over the years this passion developed into a part-time job, helping out the neighbors, my friends, and especially my family with various projects and house-hold maintenance. I have worked on projects including, installing new bathroom laminate flooring, installing doors and wall trims, replacing broken toilet seals, painting both indoors and outdoors, power-washing house siding, repairing outdoor decks, installing ceiling fans and light fixtures, building small trailers, mowing lawns and trimming hedges, dog walking and pet sitting, building wooden storage boxes and desks, and more. The numerous skills and experiences I have acquired have helped me on several occasions in my life, from my Eagle Project, to my Engineering classes in college.
The tradition of being a local handyman is a job that I do for paid hours and simply for the experience to help out my community. After my Grandpa died I have kept this tradition going, through my Engineering career I strive to follow my passions and make him proud.
